Victoria's second largest city, Geelong is situated in Bellarine Penisula region and what a great place to while away your holiday. The Werribee & Bellarine Peninsula region is at the western entrance to lovely Port Phillip. You can get here by car from the Mornington Peninsula, by car ferry.
The region is well known for its wool industry heritage, but also has some great beaches for surfing, diving and snorkelling. You cann also play golf, go fishing or enjoy the wonderful sailing on offer.
The region of Bellarine Werribee is only an hours drive from Melbourne and very popular with tourists and locals alike. Queenscliff has an old world charm about it, with its Victorian era hotels, and fine dining restaurants that are throughout the district. If you get the opportunity we also recommend you visit the amazing Werribee Open Plains Zoo for a terrific safari style adventure.
For wine aficionados, we also recommend you try some of the fantastic cool climate wines of the Geelong region. A very unique blend of the local ingrediants, that will have you buying the drop by the carton.
Another "must see"in the region is Werribee Park, a glorious Mansion built in the 1870's and now preserved and furnished, re-creating the style of life that was experienced by the wealthy land holders of the time.
The Bellarine Werribee district, has something for all to enjoy, from couples wanting a quiet time of relaxation away together, to families wanting to play on the beaches, and waterways of the area, this is the perfect little getaway from Melbourne for a weekend.
