Hunter Valley (Lower) - NSW

Australia's oldest wine region - The Hunter Valley
Wine making first commenced in the Hunter Valley in 1830, and is recognised as the oldest wine region of Australia. With approximately 135 cellar door wineries in the lower Hunter, it is also one of the most visited in Australia.

This idyllic region is also home to some of the best racehorse breeding establishments in the world. The beautiful growing conditions of the area, help to produce the unique wine varieties, unique to the region. The signature tastes are shiraz and semillion, but also produce excellent chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon.

The area also boasts artisan cheesmakers, farmgate suppliers of local produce and fruits, as well as some of Australia's best restaurants, where you can find local game on the menu. We recommend the dinner at "Roberts of Peppertree" for a culinary experience. If you are having an extended stay in the region, we would also recommend visiting the vibrant capital of Newcastle on the coast side, for some of the best seafood in Australia.
