The Country Gardens
Well tendered gardens grown with loving care simply flourish in this district, with its unique blend of volcanic earth and moist, cold climate. Malmsbury and Daylesford have beautiful Botanical gardemns, while exquisite mountainside gardens around the largest houses, put on a wonderful display in spring and autumn. There are open days to these gardens. A visit to Blackwood will have enthusiasts of the garden, savoring the delights of the Garden of St Erth - 2 heactares of native and exotics.
Hanging Rock
Walk the wonderful tracks of this area, just north east of Woodend. It was the the place for the inspirational book and movie. Dont forget to bring a picnic.
Daylesford & Hepburn Springs
What a great place to go and unwind for a weekend. Daylesford with its antique shops, art galleries and speciality stores and heritage buildings, wonderful restaurants and eateries. While Hepburn springs offers visitors, heated mineral spas, flotation tanks, massages and saunas.
Organ Pipes National Park
Just near Sunbury is this unique National Park, that has as its centre piece, the 20m wall known as the organ pipes, which have come to be after lava flows formed the basalt columns. The "pipes" are located with in a gorge and are an easy walk.
