Queen Victoria Markets
The historic Queen Victoria Markets are located just one km north of the central business district. Its origins date back to 1857 and many of its buildings are now classified by the National Trust. Traditionally a place to buy fruit and vegetables, in recent years its also become an outlet for jewellery, manchester, hardware, flowers, pets and an enormous array of clothing.
State Library of Victoria
Enjoy sitting on the wonderful lawn and relaxing in the Melbourne vibe. This Roman style building incorporates a 5 story octagonal reading room, with impressive skylight. It also contains several art galleries.
City Museum at Old Treasury
Once the place for miners to exchange their gold nuggets for cash, this wonderful historic buiding is now a museum of the gold rush mining days. The vaults are now open to the public to display Victoria's convict and gold era past, with bushrangers and details on the ships that took our gold out of the country.
Old Melbourne Gaol
Closed for over 80 years, this infamous jail is now open to the public for tours of the corridors and cells. Some of Australia's most violent and notorious criminals have been tortured and executed in this jail. On the last saturday night of every month, they have a "Hangmans Night Tour & Ghost Hunt"

Australia's first Zoo, the Melbourne Zoo is home to a variety of Australian and exotic animals from arount the world.
