KaIbarri
National
Park
is
justly
famous
for
the
diversity
and
brilliance
of
its
wildflowers.
While
the
eucalypts
typify
the
Australian
landscape,
the
shrub
and
heath
plants
provide
the
greatest
spectacle
in
springtime
when,
in
full
bloom,
they
paint
the
countryside
a
mosaic
of
colour.
Mount
Augustus

is
the
world's
largest
monad
rock
and
is
twice
the
size
of
Ayers
rock.

visitors
drive

TheJunction

the
centre

the
desert
merino
fine
wool
industry,
and
it's
small
(and
only)
pub
comes
straight
out
of
olden
droving
days.
It
doubles
as
a
General
Store
for
the
tiny
town
and
passing
travellers. Very
important!
Don't
miss
the
last
cold
beer
this
side
of
Meekatharra!
The
trip
to
the
Mount
from
Carnarvon
is
480
kms,
so
allow
a
full
day's
travelling
for
sightseeing.
The
area
is
fascinating
in
geology
and
wildlife
one
ornithologist
counted
more
than
100
species
of
birds
at
nearby
Edithanna
Pool
in
just
two
days.
This
place
is
also
a
great
spot
for
swimming,
as
is
Catle
Pool.
On
the
southern
side
of
the rock
are
several
sign-posted
Aboriginal
rock
paintings
and
engravings.
