Barossa Valley Holiday & Travel Information
South Australia
The
Barossa Valley is one
of Australia's major
holiday destinations, being
well known all over the world
for its quality wines.
A home to many major
wine producers, this
area produces over half
of Australia's wine.
Along with nearby Eden Valley, it offers a landscape of vine-covered hills sprinkled with historic villages, stone cottages and the grand buildings of old wine estates.
The Barossa Valley has a culinary heritage that dates back to the mid 1800’s. Extensive winery tours are available at some 50 plus wineries in the Barossa Valley so the best place to start is the Barossa Wine and Visitors Centre.
To the east flows the
Murray River which is
one of the largest river
systems in the world.
Irrigation introduced
in 1887 transformed
the northern section
into lush paradise with
a wide variety of attractions,
from watersports to
wildlife and of course
delicious fruits and
wine.
