Lady Elliot Island - Queensland

The most southerly island within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Lady Elliot lies 85 km (53 miles) North East of Bundaberg. An unspoilt coral cay, the island is actually part of the Reef. You can walk around the entire Island in an hour. Snorkel or dive straight from the beach.

Formed over a three thousand year period, you can learn all about the marine wonderland that is Lady Elliot Island, on a guided reef walk. Birdwatchers also flock here to observe fifty seven species of birds. More than two hundred thousand birds nest here during summer. Sea turtles also nest on Lady Elliott.

The diving here is fantastic with 10 dive sites including Lighthouse Bommie, Coral Gardens, Moiri, and Shark Pool. The visibility is excellent and ranges from 25 to 50 metres (80 to 185 feet). Hire all the gear you need. Learn to dive at the dive shop. Explore the many shipwrecks in the waters off the island.
