Chichester Range Camel Trail
The Chichester Range Camel Trail The trail is an 8km walk through a rugged and beautiful section of the Chichester Range along an old camel road. Allow 2 hours to walk from Mt Herbert to Python Pool and 3 hours if walking uphill from Python Pool.

Python Pool is a pleasant spot to rest and have a swim. The views from Mt Herbert are breathtaking and not to be missed. Significant sites along the route are marked by information plaques.

Naval Communication Station 'Harold E. Holt'
Situated 6km north of Exmouth. Radio relay station passing messages between Australian and US Command Centres and their respective ships and submarines in the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific.

This is strictly a PROHIBITED AREA unless a tour booking has been made in advance through the Tourist Bureau.

The Mildura Wreck
11km north of Exmouth turn left, travel for 4 kms then turn right onto Wreck Road. Monument to S.S. "Mildura" on left. The S.S. Mildura, a cattle ship carrying Kimberley cattle south, was wrecked during a cyclone in 1907 when it clipped North West reef. Good beach fishing.

The Old Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters
18km north of Exmouth. The duplex-type quarters were constructed in 1912 at the foot of Vlaming Head.

Historic Ruins
Located at Old Onslow townsite, approximately 45km from town. The turnoff is 20km before Onslow on the main access road to town.

Mackerel Islands Approximately 22km off shore and comprising of approximately ten small islands there are holiday packages available including accommodation, dinghy and food. A charter boat is available for fishing excursions.

Port Operations Tour
Hamersley Iron conduct tours of the port loading operations on weekdays during the tourist season. Tours run at 9.00am and 12pm noon for most of the winter months. For bookings Tel: (091) 444 600.

Burrup Peninsula
Some 100 000 Aboriginal rock engravings have been located on this Peninsula, making it one of the richest collections of rock engravings in the country. The Peninsula has sweeping sandy beaches and some fabulous fishing spots.

Dampier Archipelago
Consists of 42 islands (25 of which are nature reserves) within a 45km radius of Dampier. Activities on the islands include boating, bushwalking, camping, diving, fishing, whale watching, dugong and dolphin spotting, swimming, exploring old whaling stations and visiting historical wrecks.

Pilbara Railways Historical Society Museum
Located between Karratha and Dampier off the Dampier Salt Access Road. The Society periodically organizes train trips on the Hamersley Iron railroad through the Millstream Chichester National Park and the Karijini National Park. The Museum features "The Pendennis Castle" fastest steam engine in the world, and a miniature steam rail line. Mt Nameless
The second highest accessible mountain in the state overlooks the town of Tom Price, and is 1128m above sea level. Access to the summit is by two and four wheel drive vehicles or, for the energetic, a worthwhile walk. There are panoramic views from the summit.

Humpback Whale Migration
Port Hedland is one of the Pilbara coastal areas which is frequented by Humpback whales during their migration south. Due to increased numbers sightings are becoming more frequent and can almost be guaranteed during whale watching season.

Turtle Nesting
Mature Flatback turtles are often seen in the waters off the north west coast. In the Port Hedland area the flatback turtle is known to nest on the mainland at Munda Beach, Pretty Pool, Cooke Point and Cemetery Beach.

Royal Flying Doctor Base
The Port Hedland Base was first established in October 1935 to service the surrounding pastoral properties. Today it is the headquarters of the Royal Flying Doctor Network in the Pilbara. Open for public inspection Mon-Fri at 11.30am.

Olde St Matthews Church - Art Gallery & Exhibition Centre
St Matthews Church was built in 1908. It was destroyed by fire but rebuilt and reopened in 1918. The building is historically important for its age and is one of the few buildings remaining in the town in its original state.
