Booderee National Park - NSW

BOODEREE NATIONAL PARK - NSW

Booderee National Park - South Coast NSW
Booderee National Park, meaning “plenty of fish” or “bay of plenty”, is owned and jointly managed by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal community and Environment Australia, and is a significant place for the Koori people, having sustained its Indigenous inhabitants over hundreds of generations.

Highlights include Aboriginal sites, the Cape George Lighthouse, Booderee Botanic Gardens and magnificent beaches. Booderee with its beautiful white beaches has a wide range of activities including, fishing, swimming, surfing, sailing, and camping. Booderee National Park has 3 campsites available to choose from, Cave Beach, Green Patch and Bristol Point. Cave Beach camping ground, set amongst the coastal tea trees, is a grassy area suitable for lightweight camping. It features toilets, cold showers, water, and barbeques and is ideally suited for smaller tents of fewer than 3m x 3m and approximately 5 people per site.

Green Patch with its natural and discreet campsites is ideal for families and small groups. Amenities include male and female toilets, hot showers, fresh water, disabled toilets and infant change facilities. Facilities include electric hotplates and wood fireplaces. While barbeques are available, it is advisable to bring along a personal gas barbeque.  Bristol Point is located in a natural setting and is suitable for large groups of between 20 to 35 people. Bristol Point camping sites are divided into three sizes: standard, large and group and are all walk-in sites. They are allocated according to tent sizes.

Amenities include male and female toilets, hot showers and fresh water. Fireplaces are also available. Bristol Point and Green Patch weekend sites are generally fully booked up to a month in advance during the warmer months, and require you to leave your car and walk to the campsites located 300 metres from the parking area.

Bookings are essential for all camp sites, and can be obtained by contacting the Booderee Visitor Centre.  Email: booderee.mail@environment.gov.au

During the Christmas period campsites are allocated on a ballot system, so you will need to apply well in advance. To take part, apply in writing between August 1 and August 21. One application per person.
