tree

Place
Located
in Cloncurry
this
interpretational
centre
for
the
Flying
Doctor
Service
was
named
after
the
sevice's
founder.
The
centre
houses
a museum
and
art
gallery,
a cultural
centre,
and
an outdoor
theatre
set
in attractive
gardens.
Tree
of Knowledge
Under
this
tree,
next
to the
railway
station
in Barcaldine,
a historic
meeting
was
held
In 1891
that
resulted
in the
formation
of the
Australian
Labor
Party.
Qantilda
Pioneer
Place
This
museum
in Winton
contains
early
records
of Qantas
and
Waltzing
Matilda,
both
of which
have
their
roots
in Winton.
Aramac
Tramway
Museum
The
Aramac
Tramway
was
closed
down
on the
completion
of a
sealed
road
between
Aramac
and
Barcaldine.
The
Tramway
operated
between
1913
and
1975.
The
museum
now
houses
the
old
engines
and
rolling
stock.
Ilfracombe
Folk
Museum
This
museum
houses
local
memorabilia
including
a 1901
police
cell,
a horsedrawn
wool
wagon,
sulkies
and
early
motor
vehicles
and
machinery.
Combo
Waterhole
Located
fourteen
kilometres
from
the
township
of Kynuna
this
waterhole
is on
record
as being
the
"Billabong"
from
Waltzing
Matilda.
Kynuna
is also
home
to the
famous
"Blue
Heeler"
Hotel.
The
Min
Min
Light
The
phenomenon
of a
light
in the
sky
which
is said
to follow
you
has
been
sighted
by residents
over
the
years.
A replica
electric
Min
Min
light
has
been
built
in the
main
street
of Boulia.
Riversliegh
Fossil
Display
An impressive
display
of some
of the
fossils
found
in the
Riversliegh
Fossil
Field
is housed
in the
Civic
Centre
at Mount
Isa.
Dinosaur
Display
Situated
in Hughenden
with
information
on the
various
dinosaurs
that
used
to roam
the
Outback.
There
are
also
displays
of fossils,
and
a 14m
replica
of the
Muttaburrasaurus
skeleton.
Lake
Moondarra
Lake
Moondarra
is located
15.5km
north
of Mount
Isa.
The
Lake
has
been
declared
a wildlife
sanctuary
because
many
species
of birdlife
including
pelicans
and
other
waterbirds
reside
here. Karumba
Wetlands
Consisting
of flat
marshy
plains
the
wetlands
are
breeding
grounds
for
many
species
of waterbirds,
and
migratory
birds
arriving
from
or departing
to Asia
stop
here
to rest
their
weary
wings.
