Quinkan
Reserve
One
of the
largest
bodies
of prehistoric
art lies
around
the township
of Laura,
in this
spectacular
region
of Cape
York Peninsular.The
Quinkan
Reserve
contains
cave and
shelter
paintings
in such
concentration,
that to
many archaeologists,
this is
one of
the most
important
aboriginal
sites
in Australia...and
to some
who visit....the
world.The
thousand
plus art
sites
siuated
around
Laura
demonstrate
a variety
of unique
aboriginal
painting
styles
and techniques,
dating
back to
over 13000 years.
These
spectacular
sites
are
preserved
by the
local
aboriginal
trust
and
may
be inspected
in the
company
of park
rangers.
Pajinka
Wilderness
Lodge
At
the
very
northern
most
tip
of Australia,
is the
spectacular
Pajinka
Wilderness
Lodge,
which
is operated
by the
local
aboriginal
community.
Guided
tours
of the
area
can
be arranged
to significant
historical
sites,
birdwatching
with

natuarlist

fishing
