The Daintree National Park - QLD

As national parks go, this far north region of Australia has one of the best, with the Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation . Where the lush rainforest meets the beautiful sandy beaches of Cape Tribulation. This is the only place where two World Heritage regions meet - Cape Tribulation and the Great Barrier Reef.

The Daintree wilderness includes lush rainforest and mountain ranges, which rise sharply from sandy beaches below. The Daintree National Park protects some of the world's oldest rainforests and endangered species of flora and fauna. With it's coastal waters, rainforests and creeks the Daintree National Park provided for the local aboriginals - the Kuku Yalanji people. They fished, and hunted in the creeks, rivers and lush rainforest.

There are many rare animals that call the Daintree National Park home, including the Lumholtz's tree kangaroo and the Bennett's tree kangaroo, which is only found in the canopy of the rainforest feeding on leaves and figs. The brilliant blue Ulysses butterfly lives in harmony of the rainforest, along with Australia's largest butterfly who has a wingspan up to 150mm. The waterways also have many native animals, like platypus and jungle perch.

Camping is available at Noah Beach - 8km south of Cape Tripulation. Under the canopy of the forest, there are 17 protected campsites, only 50 mts from the beach. Campers can only stay 7 nights maximum. No fires allowed.

If you would like a holiday in the tropics, and enjoy your nature experiences, you would not find a fuller adventure than a stay in the jungle of the Daintree National Park
