Isla Gorge National Park
The spectacular maze of gorges and sandstone
outcrops contrasts severely with the grassy plains of the
surrounding Taroom Shire. A lookout close to the
Leichhardt Highway provides stunning views into this
deep, dry gorge.
Ravensbourne National Park
Ravensbourne is located along the eastern edge of the
Great Dividing Range. Remnant rainforest and eucalypt
forest are preserved here. Ravensbourne is a haven for
the birdwatching enthusiast.
Lake Broadwater National Park
Lake Broadwater is the largest conservation park in the
Golden West region. It is also the only naturally
occurring freshwater lake on the northern Darling
Downs. It is a popular spot for birdwatching and water
sports.
Carnarvon Gorge National Park
Carnarvon Gorge creates an oasis of scenery amidst the
highlands of central Queensland. The spectacular
combination of stark sandstone and vine forested
gorges attracts thousands of visitors each year. The
Aboriginal art sites are an added attraction.
Bunya Mountains National Park
The Bunya Mountains represents Queensland's last
significant stand of bunya pine. The Mountain is
covered with unique outcrops of grassy balds and is
renowned for the abundance of easily observed
wildlife.
